Throughout the years they lived in Georgia, New York, Arkansas, Texas, North Dakota, Alabama, and Maryland before retiring to Dothan in 1983. This included a year while her husband served in Vietnam.

After a few years, Harriett told Ledon she would “live in a shack” if only she could move back to Georgia.

The SEC announced the 2019 football schedules for all 14 league schools on Tuesday. BATON ROUGE – Home games with Southeastern Conference opponents Florida, Auburn, Arkansas and Texas A&M along with a road trip to Austin to face Texas highlight LSU’s 2019 football schedule. Ultimately the Tigers landed back-to-back home games against the Gators, which then resulted in back-to-back trips for LSU to The Swamp in 2017 and 2018.

DeVonta Smith was his top receiver, making 7 receptions for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Najee Harris was the top rusher, recording 19 carries for 146 yards and 1 touchdown. On defense, Xavier McKinney led the team in tackles with 13 total, including 9 solo and 2.5 tackles for loss. For the Tigers, Joe Burrow completed 31 of 39 attempted passes for 393 yards, with 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. After a second bye week, LSU traveled to Tuscaloosa to play rival Alabama. Heading into the game, LSU was ranked No. 1 and Alabama No. 2 in the AP Poll. The season's first College Football Playoff rankings were released on the Tuesday prior to the game, with LSU ranked No. 2 and Alabama ranked No. 3. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who was only 20 days removed from a minor ankle surgery, was making his return, and the battle between him and Joe Burrow was expected to play a major role in the Heisman Trophy race.

Joe Burrow finished with 31-of-39 attempts for 393 yards and three touchdowns. He earned his second Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week honors for the performance. Burrow was named SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the award with teammate Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who had 180 total yards and four total touchdowns . Ja'Marr Chase had 140 receiving yards and a touchdown in the game. On the season, the Tigers outscored their opponents by a combined total of 726 to 328. Owing to their dominant performance against a historically difficult schedule, several pundits have called the team the greatest in college football history.

LSU Announces 2019 Football Schedule

LSU was ranked No. 1 in the final College Football Playoff rankings of the season, earning them a spot in the national semi-final game to be played at the Peach Bowl. They dominated fourth-ranked Oklahoma in that game, 63–28, to advance to the CFP Championship Game. Arkansas opened the second-half with a missed 45-yard field goal attempt. Arkansas then scored with a 24-yard pass from Michael Woods II to Jack Lindsey, then recovered an onside kick attempt and scored with a two-yard run by Devwah Whaley to end the scoring on the day at 56–20.

Alabama received the ball on their 30 and attempted one play, which resulted in a loss of yards, before the end of the half. Two passes by Burrow to Edwards-Helaire and Jefferson put LSU into Alabama's territory, and the Tigers scored shortly thereafter with a 29-yard pass to Marshall. A touchback then placed Alabama at their 25 to begin their first drive of the quarter.

Cheez-It Citrus Bowl

Coming into the game, Alabama ranked second in the nation in points per game (48.6), with the offense averaging 168 rushing yards per game. Tagovailoa had a completion percentage of 74.7, passing for 2,166 yards, including nine passes that resulted in a gain of at least 40 yards. The team had what Athlon called "the nation's best receiving corps", consisting of Smith, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs, and Jaylen Waddle, who had a combined 24 touchdown receptions that season. On defense, the Crimson Tide had held opposing teams to only 15.2 points per game and had allowed only one play that resulted in a gain of at least 40 yards. The defense kept opposing teams to just 4.54 yards per play, ranking 14th in the nation. The Tigers offense, led by quarterback and future Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow, dominated the first half of the game and led at halftime by a score of 33–13.

Defensive coordinator Mike Elko had a senior-laden unit in 2018 and must regroup with just four starters returning. After taking its lumps last season, Auburn's offensive line should be one of the team's strengths but it may not matter if the Tigers' new starting quarterback struggles. The defense should be solid yet again with one of the nation's top defensive lines and a seasoned secondary leading the way.

In their first possession, LSU started with two rushing plays from Clyde Edwards-Helaire to give them a first down at their 19-yard line. A short run from Burrow and a pass to Chase moved them to near midfield, and a pass to Justin Jefferson put the Tigers at the Alabama 33-yard line. A pass from Burrow to Chase resulted in the first touchdown of the game, putting the Tigers up 7–0.

The Gators will likely begin the season ranked in the top 10 of the polls but this isn't a team without question marks. The defense should be fine with senior linebacker David Reese and a solid secondary leading the way. With college football's top defense, more was expected of Mississippi State under first-year head coach Joe Moorhead but finished 8-5 (4-4 in SEC).

The "Gold Game" is set for Oct. 26 when Auburn travels to Baton Rouge. "LSU Salutes" will be the weekend of the Arkansas game on Nov. 23, followed by Senior Night against Texas A&M on Nov. 30. Justin Jefferson recovered the Crimson Tide's onside kick, allowing the Tigers to run out the clock with a 46–41 lead. Unfortunately, they have the same incomplete games for Ga Southern and Arkansas. Vanderbilt may not be ready to turn that proverbial corner just yet. While the team has seven starters back on offense the line will have some new faces and must play better. "LSU's Joe Brady wins Broyles Award, given to college football's top assistant coach". In the final College Football Playoff rankings of the year, LSU moved from second to first, passing Ohio State, who had beaten Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game, 34–21. LSU's opponent in the CFP semi-final, the Peach Bowl, was fourth-ranked Oklahoma, champions of the Big 12 Conference at 12–1.

The Crimson Tide dropped to No. 14 in the rankings and were selected to play the Michigan Wolverines in the Citrus Bowl, a game they won 35–16. Joe Burrow's performance in the game helped to establish him as the main frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy, which is awarded annually to the best overall player in college football. Burrow won the award on December 14, becoming only the second player in LSU history to receive the honor.

Big 12 play kicks off with yet another home game, this time it is the Oklahoma State Cowboys returning to Austin where they last left victoriously in 2017. LSU's non-conference away schedule also includes a trip to Austin to face off against the Texas Longhorns in the second week of the season. LSU answered with a dramatic one-point victory in The Swamp a year later, and Florida then took down the Tigers last season in Gainesville with a big fourth quarter showing. Given there is no sports happening, I'm considering watching a game every Saturday just like living the season again.

LSU would love to get some payback against the Gators after losing to them in Gainesville last season. The Aggies will be battle-tested before heading to Baton Rouge with road games against Wake Forest and San Diego State. This could be another sleeper game for LSU looking ahead to a Florida team that upset the Tigers in 2018. Georgia Southern appears to be a program on the rise and figures to come out of the gates fired up, but that doesn't mean the Eagles are ready to play the role of giant killer just yet. Last season, Georgia Southern ventured into the other Death Valley against Clemson and left with a 38-7 loss to the eventual national champions. The talent is on the roster for LSU in 2019, but does the schedule match up favorably for the Tigers to make a run to Atlanta and possibly earn a College Football Playoff berth?

Future LSU Football Schedules

LSU scored on the game's opening drive with a 37-yard touchdown pass from Joe Burrow to Ja'Marr Chase. Arkansas converted two field goals, from 24 yards and 47 yards, to make the score 7–6 midway through the second quarter. After a touchback, the Tigers started on their own 25, but a 35-yard pass to Chase put them on Alabama's 40. Another few plays moved them up to Alabama's 19, but following a sack that put LSU at 4th & 17 at the Alabama 27, York was brought in to make a 45-yard field goal, making the score 19–13. Ruggs returned the subsequent kickoff to put Alabama at their own 28. After several plays and a delay of game penalty, they had not progressed by their fourth down and decided to punt, with Stingley returning the ball to the LSU 39.

With the way Texas is playing this season, it’s not far-fetched to say those driving routes will be used quite frequently by fans sporting burnt orange next year. The Longhorns won’t be doing a lot of traveling in those nonconference games as they open the season with a home game against Louisiana Tech on Aug. 31 and remain in Austin the next week when the LSU Tigers come to town. As usual, the Longhorns open their season with three non-conference games before heading into Big 12 play. The dates for the 2019 Texas football schedule were announced Thursday, per Texas Athletics. Vanderbilt responded with a 52-yard touchdown run by Ke'Shawn Vaughn. LSU then scored again with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Burrow to Ja'Marr Chase, Burrow's sixth of the day.
